About Dominion Custom Homes: Improving Lives By Constructing Dreams

John Kerber built Dominion Custom Homes on two key principles: Provide the personal attention that can’t be duplicated by larger builders, and build each home with the integrity and stewardship that a family deserves. This one-on-one contact with our homeowners establishes a strong relationship and a sense of trust right from the start. At Dominion Custom Homes, we believe building a home should be a positive experience from day one. We can deliver on this because John Kerber and our team listen to your needs, ask questions about your requirements, analyze how your family lives now and will live in the future.

At Dominion Custom Homes, we pride ourselves on having a team of extremely talented craftsmen, field supervisors, interior decorators, and trade partners, who work together to ensure each home is meticulously constructed, within budget and delivered on time. John remains closely involved with his team throughout each phase of the building process. This process guarantees a successful relationship between homeowner and builder, and ensures a beautifully constructed custom home that meets or exceeds each homeowner’s expectations.

Our company culture is to be good stewards and trusted partners. We want to be the company that folks are proud to work for and do business by eagerly and genuinely serving them in the manner we would like to be treated.

Our company’s core values center on: Stewardship of our stakeholders’ (clients, employees, trade partners) vision and resources so their dreams come to life, as well as our own. Partnering relationships to help our stakeholders grow professionally and economically. Eagerness for quality, continuous improvement and excellence whether in ourselves, our product and our processes. Proud of our projects, our team and our legacy of culture or processes.Genuine by being transparent, authentic and doing what we say and saying what we do. Owning it.

MEET MONICA POWELL,
ADMIN BOOKKEEPER FOR
DOMINION CUSTOM HOMES

From Army Brat to Air Force Veteran, then back to my hometown of Brooklyn, New York, my early years were always on the move. The excitement didn’t stop there when I got out of the military, as I started a family and my forever journey in raising five amazing humans. After the military and going back home to New York, life brought me to Virginia. I spent many years with the University of Virginia as Circulation Manager for The Hedgehog Review, before moving on to becoming the Business Office Manager for an Assisted Living Facility. Covid-19 hit the world, and the need for a better work-life balance with my elementary aged children took over. With over 25 years of professional experience behind me, and many more ahead, my passion continues to be helping others, and always wanting to learn.  That path brought me into this role with an amazing company which helps others by making their dream homes a reality.

When I am not at the office, running around spending time with my older adult kids, or toting my younger ones back and forth to activities, you will most definitely find me on a field somewhere coaching, playing, or watching baseball…15 years and counting with Little League and a lifetime Yankee fan. Whether career, volunteering, or family, I will continue to make dreams come true and live by the saying, “To the world you might be one person, but to one person you just might be the world.”
